How do I print pictures smaller then 4×6?

I am working on a gift for my friend and I need pictures in odd sizes smaller then 4×6 such as 2.5×2.5 2.5×3.5 3×2 and 3×4… I can't print them at home as I have no color ink so I am getting them printed through an online site that does not offer prints smaller then 4×6. I know that I could get them printed 4×6 and cut out the part that I want in the various sizes but I want the whole picture those sizes, not just a piece of it. I was thinking if I could srink the pictures using an editing program to the various sizes and then put them in the middle of a white border that when I got it printed then I could just cut it out, but how would I go about doing this?? Thanks!!

How about these right… I think you’ll find the following nuggets of wisdom particularly insightful. Leave your comments below. Check out the second one in particular…

You may look at the vinyl rolls and think "wall art" but I wanted to share how you can create your very own stickers and embellishments for your scrapbooking with this super versatile vinyl as well. September 09 in review layout … I created the butterfly embellishments on the above layout by using a Silhouette die cut design and cut them from the teal vinyl. Then I ungrouped the design, removed the "inside cut lines" and cut the butterfly again using vellum. …

Many engaged couples wish to show appreciation to their parents for funding their big day, yet struggle with finding ideas for such a meaningful gift. Fortunately, there are many options for unique wedding gifts for parents of the bride and groom.

Personalized Gifts

One idea is to produce a personalized wedding gift for parents. Personalized items provide a special memento of love and family history. Engraved frames with a heartfelt message and memorable photo will be cherished for years to come. Personal jewelry items such as a locket or cufflinks with the wedding date engraved are another option. Plaques with a special poem can be displayed with pride as a reminder of the merging of two families. Holiday ornaments may be engraved with couple’s names. A framed representation of the family tree (with the new son/daughter included) is another option.

Classic Gifts

Another idea is to give a classic item made from precious materials. The bride and groom may wish to give the timeless gift of crystal, in the form of a clock or vase. Silver candlestick holders or a serving piece provide another option.

Creative Gifts

Couples may wish to exercise their special talents by creating their own unique wedding gift for their parents. A handcrafted scrapbook chronicling the journey from childhood to marriage will bring tears to a parent’s eyes. A handmade quilt would become an instant family heirloom. Pottery, lovingly created or painted, will hold a place of honor on the mantel of the family home.

Gift Certificates

Yet another option is to give the gift of relaxation. After months of stressful (and expensive) wedding planning, most parents of the bride and groom would appreciate a gift certificate for a relaxing spa treatment or weekend getaway. Couples can get creative and research local recreational activities, bed and breakfasts and formal dining options.

Wedding Mementos

Once married, the bride and groom can provide parents with a special photo album with candid shots of the wedding preparations, ceremony and honeymoon.

Regardless of the wedding gift that a couple decides to give their parents, the heartfelt message of gratitude will be clearly and lovingly communicated.

Scrapbooking is such a rewarding hobby. It allows you to record our memories. Memories of people, places, events and everyday moments. It also allows you to uncover your creativity in whatever form you desire. Some people go ‘all out’ creating artworks of each layout, while others are content with achieving a pleasing, simple looking layout. As long as you are enjoying being creative – go with whatever style you like.

With all this creativity abounding within you, why not take it a step further and create greeting cards. Why? you may ask:

1. To give your handcrafted love. I’m sure most people would agree that there is something extra special about receiving a gift or card which has been given that extra special touch. Whether someone has put a lot of thought or effort into selecting the right gift or it is made by them. Giving a quality, creative greeting card shows your extra thoughtfulness. By putting some effort into the card it will stand out from the crowd and be appreciated as such.

2. Use up your scrapbooking scraps. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that my scrap container seems to grow rather rapidly. There are many ways to utilize these scraps and one is by making cards. Greeting cards are usually on small and don’t require a lot of paper or embellishments. Therefore you can use the nicest papers and most exquisite embellishment scraps which you have lying around and create a beautiful masterpiece.

3. Anything goes. With cards there are no boundaries. No photos to blend with and compliment. No theme to keep running. No album it must work with. Anything truly does work here. Think of the person you are creating for and allow your imagination to run wild. It is a wonderful feeling to allow yourself that freedom of creativity.

Now start creating. Grad a scrap of card and a scrap of your favourite paper and possibly that latest gorgeous stamp you bought and have fun.

A Scrapbooking Home Based Business is on the rise, so congratulations to you for looking into starting a scrapbooking business! The following tips and advice are sure to be helpful as you pursue your own business.

There are many opportunities available for a scrapbooking home based business these days. To begin, though, you have to think in terms of where the market is for your business. Themes play an important role in scrapbooking. You may want to specialize in one type or prefer to provide a wide variety. Some themes to consider for your home based business are:

Weddings

Pregnancy

Military

Sports

High school years

Retirement

Graduations

Careers

Elementary school years

Engagements

Vacations

Parties

As you can see from this list, practically any event in a person’s life is material for a scrapbook-which is great news for those who have a scrapbooking business. One woman specializes in making scrapbooks for the kindergartners at the elementary school near her home. And there’s a man who has an extremely successful scrapbooking home business where he only does military scrapbooks for veterans.

If you’re already into making scrapbooks, then you know about all the exciting new products available for scrapbooking businesses. Beautiful and fun papers are just the beginning. And the scrapbook covers are often works of art. Which is the point. When you’re preserving someone’s memories through your scrapbooking home business, you’re an artist and should think of yourself as one.

Anyone can throw some pictures, letters, postcards, and the like into a scrapbook. People who want the services of a scrapbooking business, however, are looking for more. They want scrapbooks that are more than just things flung between the covers of a scrapbook to show their family members and friends.

Once you’ve thought about and decided that you do want a scrap booking business, you need to think about the actual business part if you want it to be a successful scrap booking business.

You’ll need to devise a business plan that lays out the steps you need to take to get your scrapbooking business going and to ensure it grows once you’re in the process of starting a scrapbooking business. As you start your business plan, ask yourself these questions:

Do I want to do this part-time or full-time?

Are there any supplies or equipment I need to buy?

Will I need financial assistance to get my scrapbooking home based business going?

What type of scrapbooks do I want to provide?

Are my skills and talents suitable for this business?

Should I have a partner?

How much should I charge for my services?

Is there a market for my scrapbooking home based business in my area?

Are there any zoning regulations for my neighborhood that could prevent my having a home business?

Should I get a business license?

Would it be a good idea for me to take a scrapbooking course before I begin the process of starting a scrapbooking home business?

What sort of accounting system will I need?

How do I charge and plan for taxes?

What’s the competition doing in my area?

How will I market and advertise my scrapbooking home business?

Should I think about incorporating my business?

Where do I want my scrapbooking home business to be in six months?

What is the goal I want to achieve through my scrapbooking business?

These are some of the many questions anyone thinking of starting a scrap booking home business should ask themselves and plan for. Getting the “business” details nailed down and in place before you actually begin your scrap booking home business will be invaluable to you as you proceed. It will give you much less to worry about and allow you to thoroughly enjoy making scrapbooks for your clients. And, after all, that’s what your scrap booking home business is all about!

Scrapbooking has a way of taking over a whole house eventually. It starts with a single scrapbook and some empty pages. Soon there are special scissors, paper cutters, 3-D cutouts and more that can be used for each book of memories.

It can be a very rewarding hobby, one that thousands of people enjoy every day. If you don’t have a committed space for creating your memories, it’s a fair bet you have everything spread out over the kitchen table, shoved in closets or cabinets or any other empty space you can find. The garage would be a good space, but changes in humidity can damage expensive handmade papers and cause glues to stick where they’re not supposed to.

A good solution is to create your own scrapbooking oasis. One of the best ideas is to use a cedar chest as your base of operations. Readily available in almost any style, wood and color imaginable, a chest offers you plenty of space for storage.

They aren’t just a cavernous box, either. Most have drop in drawers to help you organize and are large enough to accept several tubs of scrapbooking materials.

When looking for a cedar chest, be sure that it’s really made of cedar. It’s easy to tell. Just open the chest and take a deep breath. You’ll smell the telltale scent of cedar. Once you know its cedar, make sure it’s all cedar. Some furnishings that are advertised as cedar may just have a cedar bottom or a top drawer that’s cedar. That’s not bad, just know what you’re paying for.

If your cedar chest has an upper drawer that’s removable, it’s the ideal place to keep your project that’s in progress. Simply lift it out when you’re in the mood to scrapbook and take it to your workspace.

If you need a bigger area to work with, you can add shelves above the chest to store specialty papers, punches and the little special accessories that you like to add to the pages to make them themed.

Convenience is important when scrapbooking. If things are too difficult to reach or access, you may just put off a project rather than move everything around. This type of chest is perfect for this. You can keep all your most often used items on the shelves and store the less frequently or seasonal items in the chest. It’s also a good place to keep extra supplies, such as glues, glitter, punches and spare scissors. You may also want to keep some spare blades in your chest for X-ACTO knives and paper cutters.

Not matter what level of scrapbooking you’re at, you’ll find a cedar chest will be an indispensable addition to your craft. Plus you can always use it when guests come over for additional seating. Simply place a cushion on top of the chest and your friends and family can enjoy a comfortable place to sit while they look through your handcrafted books of memories.

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog posts lately you’ll know I’ve come to adding a few news posts from around the web on this subject. I’ve got a couple more today that are new and updated, so let me know what you think of em…

You can use a die cut machine to custom cut vinyl stencils. If you are Design Studio or Sure Cuts ALot the possibilities are endless. The vinyl works fantastic on curved vases. I have not ever had much luck with intricate cuts – always …

I've added a COVER to the front of the card stock ring and I've embellished it with letters die cut from the Big Shot. I used the Billboard sizzlit alphabet set which has been exclusively designed by Stampin' Up for use with the Big …

If you would like to have a look that is more simple, then you will want to use try die cuts. These paper cutouts look great on the page alone, or can be used for matting or journaling. One of the most complicated types of die cuts are …

Unique and different bridal shower favors are not always easy to find. After all, if they are in the stores or on websites that sell bridal shower favors, they are available to a wide range of people. They may still be unique to you and your friends, but why not consider making your bridal shower favors?

Unique and different bridal shower favors, that are handmade by you, will be treasured far more than those that are ordered in haste.

Candle Bridal Shower Favors

First you will need the candles. Candles can be purchased in bulk for making your unique and different bridal shower favors. Look online for the Candle Factory of Grand Traverse. There you can order white tea candles in metal cups for as little as 12 cents each. Tea lights will burn up to 4 hours, so this may be as large as you want for bridal shower favors. If you want a longer burning or larger candle, order 9-hour votives for as little as 19 cents.

Next you will need candle holders. Bell-a-Roma is a good place to shop. Their selection includes holders for either tea lights or votive candles. If you need bridal shower favors for a beach-theme, you might like the ceramic dolphin holders. For an autumn or winter bridal shower, you might choose the glass flower holders. Their tall flower candle holders are beautiful pastel tulips on green metal stems with green leaves – a delicate, romantic bridal shower favor for a garden party.

Finally, you will need ribbon and copies of small photos of the bridal couple for your bridal shower favors. You can scan a photo into a computer, and print as many copies as you need. Choose white or pastel ribbon to go with your candles and holders. Satin ribbon is good and will tie easily.

To assemble your homemade bridal shower favors, simply thread thin satin ribbon through a hole in each photo, and then tie the ribbon in a bow around your candle holder. Insert a candle, and your unique bridal shower favor is ready.

Tip: If you realize you won’t have time to assemble these, but still want candles, look under Bell-a-Roma’s heading “wedding candles” for a unique and different bridal shower favor. The “Just Married Car” is a candle holder with clear glass votive holder filled with scented wax. The favor features bride and groom in a just married car. They have many other bridal shower favors I’ve seen nowhere else. Unique!

Mini Scrapbook Bridal Shower Favors

Scrapbooking is rapidly growing in popularity. Why not create mini scrapbooks for your bridal shower favors? This will work best with digital scrapbooking.

First, visit Oriental Trading Company online and order their Matchbook Albums – one for each bridal shower favor you need.

Scan photos of the bride and her friends into your computer, and size them to fit the 3″ x 3″ scrapbook pages. Passport size photos work well. Crop your photos to focus on the most important details.

Create 6 digital Scrapbook pages, with different digital paper for each. Open windows for your photos, insert, and frame them. Add a brief note or caption and a small embellishment.

Now print copies of your digital pages for each bridal shower favor. Assemble, and tie with ribbon for unique and different bridal shower favors.

Wooden Letter Bridal Shower Favors

This unique bridal shower favor will be treasured by everyone at your party. Purchase large wooden letters at a craft or home store. Oriental Trading has these letters, painted white, in 6″ height. Purchase the letter that will be the bride’s new last initial. For example, if her married name will be Jones, purchase a letter “J” for each bridal shower favor.

“Scrap” the wood letters with scrapbooking paper, ribbon, and stickers that have meaning to the bride and her friends. Tie a ribbon on each bridal shower favor when it is done.

Heart Tin Bridal Shower Favors

Heart tins filled with candy need not be boring. They can be bridal shower favors as unique as you are. Purchase small, plain heart tins with lids at a craft store. Embellish the lids with symbols and words that have meaning for you and the bride. Find embellishments at a scrapbooking supply site or craft store. Fill the tins with red cinnamon heart candies for a unique bridal shower favor.

Recycle is to process used items so that the material can be used to make new products. Reduce refers to lowering the amount of items or resources that are consumed. Reuse means repurposing an item rather than discarding it. Recycling generally prevents the waste of potentially useful materials, reduces the consumption of raw materials and reduces energy usage.

Scrapbooking is about preserving a legacy in the form of photos, media and other memorabilia while incorporating the creative use of papers in decorated albums.

Recycling and Scrapbooking are a perfect match. Paper, the primary material in scrapbooking, is a natural, renewable resource, making it an environmentally friendly medium.

There are so many fun and easy ways to make your scrapbook personal and unique by reusing things from around your own home. The handcrafted items made from common everyday goods add the ultimate personal touch that can’t be duplicated in mass production. Here are a few ideas on how you can increase your recycling while you scrapbook:

Recycle

Set up an area near where you scrapbook for items that can be recycled like papers or ribbon scraps, this will encourage you to consume more and throw away less

Purchase recycled scrapbook paper, there are new lines of patterned scrapbook paper that are made from 30% post consumer content and use vegetable based inks (available now at www.scrapbookpantry.com)

Reuse

Use the scraps on several pages in the same album to carry an overall theme

Donate the papers in your someday pile to charity or your local senior center

Share or trade your idea books with your friends

Purchase slightly used items scrapbook garage sales (or host your own)

Find a way to use the packing material often included with scrapbook items (remember you may need to treat these items to make them archival safe)

Don’t just buy your buttons collect them from old blouses or shirts in your closet

Reduce

Purchase durable, long-lasting products

Use every bit of item that you do purchase

Don’t buy the newest item if you already have a similar item

My hostess this month, Cassandra, didn't make a request for a theme, stamp set or Big Shot die but I did manage to get her… … I also used my Big Shot to die- cut the letters for the title and used a snowflake punch for the "o" in snow. It is shimmery because I added dazzling diamonds to the punch with my 2-way glue pen. IMG_7577 [640x480]. Do you notice the other Big Shot die in the photo …

Recently I received a wonderful gift from my daughter. A living scrapbook showing my grandchildren from their birth until now. This gift meant so much to me that I ended up becoming a scrapper and love the whole idea of scrapbooking your precious memories. As time has gone by I have increased my collection of books on scrapbooking and slowly collected all the tools I think are needed for scrapbooking. The great thing about scrapbooking is that anyone can do it, the ideas are endless and your subject for the book or page can be on anything.

I recently saw a great little movie called “New in Town” starring Renee Zellweger. The story basically is Zellweger a consultant in love with her Miami lifestyle is sent to the middle of nowhere in Minnesota to oversee the restructuring of a blue collar manufacturing plant. Along the way meets these quirky townfolk who loves include scrapping and slowly warms up to the small town’s charm, and eventually finds herself being accepted by this funny community. Eventually she’s ordered to close down the plant and put the entire community out of work and in this time reconsiders her goals and priorities, and finds a way to save the town.

There was one particular scene that peaked my interest in the movie and that was when Zellweger’s character was given a Christmas present by her secretary. When she opened the present it was a scrapbook of her arrival at this strange little town. It had photos and messages in it and you could see Zellweger’s icey character melt and really appreciate this beautifully handmade gift.

Strangely enough this got me thinking. I love scrapbooking, its a great hobby for all the family, and people LOVE scrapbooking. Handmade gifts and in particular scrapbooking items are from the heart and when it comes to special gifts for great occasions these forms of gifts are often the most treasured. Then the Light bulb blinked on above my head.

There must be a market for these handcrafted gifts for things such as wedding books, birthday books, anniversaries and many others. There must be a way to turn what I love doing into an income and sure enough there is. I found a number of great websites detailing how to start your own genuine income from scrapbooking. Its not as hard as you may think.

Its a funny thing when you think about it. Starting any form of small business can be very expensive and you usually go broke very quickly. But think about this for a second. What cost do you have? You have most items you need anyway for scrapbooking as a hobby, What more could you really need? That right nothing. All you really need the guidance on the right way to go that suits you.

I have had the fortune of working through a scrabooking program by Richard Mann called “Scrapbooking a profitable business” where he details the fundamentals of establishing ways of making scrapbooking work for you including setting up a website, the various pros and cons of different forms of advertising, where to advertise. The book written in a way that can be easily understood is an informed guide to earning an income from scrapbooking.

A similar e-book program available is “Scrapbooking for profit” from Brett McFall. This is a similar format to Scrapbooking for a profitable business, however this program explores a more aggressive approach to marketing and developing a small business in scrapbooking. Look this approach wont suit everyone, and shows ways of earning a very good income from scrapbooking. This also requires a lot more work and could take the fun out of scrapbooking.

Both these strategies have worked for me over in developing an income from scrapbooking. I have been able to enjoy my hobby and get a little money to buy more stock and equipment along the way. Again this has suited me and I use this as a supplementary income, you may wish to got to a different level and that will require much more work on your behalf. I have also met some nice people along the way when making an item for them through a consignment job or when they buy basic item.

These programs (books) are around $30.00 to purchase and have various bonus items when you purchase. Overall I have found this a very small price for the knowledge they do bring. Again there are many other Websites detailing similar ways to earn money from scrapbooking. Have a look at the sites that are recommended and have a look yourself on the web at others, there really is something out there that would suit your needs. Keep and open mind ang give it a go, why not turn your hobby into a real income that the entire family can help and earn with.

Ok so you might find the next few links interesting. These are from around the web, just random snippets that I’ve picked up in my reading, but I found some very cool information in them. You might too. Here goes…

Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin’ Kit – Jan’s Stamping Creations

I used one Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' Kit (115696, page 165) and was able to make six Scrapbook pages and 21 cards with a few die cuts left over. The kit comes with 8 sheets of 12" x 12" textured card stock in Chocolate Chip, …

Dies Scrapbook Album | Infinitive Designs Scrapbooking

There are 48 die-cut openings to frame favorite photos, and special pages to record captions. The unique cover design features a festive shadowbox. It has a burgundy/ holly branch themed cover design. …

Fathers Day Scrapbook Theme Ideas and Tips | News Direct Blog

·Arrange the scrapbook elements in such a way that it is not crowded. A page that is covered in many pictures may crowed the page leaving the viewer overwhelmed. ·Place embellishments on your page – stickers, die cuts, rubber stamps and …

Hope you enjoy the read as much as I did and please if you have something to say, use the comments form below to let everyone know your thoughts.

Have a great day!

Where is the best place to find cheap scrapbooking supplies?

I absolutely LOVE scrapbooking, but the more I look for supplies, the more I see that they aren't all so cheap!

My favorite things to use are the raised stickers, as well as all the interesting pattern cutouts you find in kits. Is there any place that sells scrapbooking supplies at a fairly cheap price? My scrapbook is only 2 pages long because I don't have a good variety, lol.

Thanks for any help

I hope you’ve been enjoying my posts lately. I thought I might do something different today and rustle up a few bits of info from around the WWW. These are some of the news items and blog posts that have been popular over the last few weeks. Leave me your thoughts.

I believe this was a freebie on the Scrapbook Graphics Studio Matters blog. Because I didn't use the title page included in the kit – my back cover would have been blank chipboard. So instead, I created a back cover using Don't Eat the …

Hope you enjoy the read as much as I did and please if you have something to say, use the comments form below to let everyone know your thoughts.

Scraplifting is one of the best ways to showcase your favorite pictures in style. By borrowing the design elements and ideas of others, you can create beautiful scrapbook layouts, even if your own experience is limited. Although it involves stealing the ideas of others, the scrapbooking community generally welcomes this habit.

There are many people who would like to take up the scrapbooking hobby, but they just don’t know where to start. Scrapblifting is one of the best ways to get started. By borrowing the design elements and ideas of more experienced crafters, novices can easily put together attractive layouts. As they gain more experience, it’s easier to start integrating the ideas of others with their own, or mixing and matching elements from different layouts they like. Eventually, this experience will help people new to this hobby to start coming up with their own original designs.

One of the most popular venues to get inspiration is magazines. Take a look at your local library or book store – there are many different magazines dedicated to this hobby. Many of these publications receive submissions from scrapbook enthusiasts, and from these submissions, they pick the best ones to feature in their magazines. By copying the ideas in these magazines, your layouts are sure to look their best.

One downside to these types of publications is that they tend to be expensive. However, there are many places where you can get ideas and inspiration for free. If you have any friends that scrapbook, ask to take a look at their albums. In addition, you should be able to find local groups or clubs that meet on a regular basis to work on projects together and otherwise share their love for this hobby.

Another great place for scraplifting ideas is the world wide web. There are thousands of people that take pleasure in showing off their layouts on personal blogs. Many of them provide complete material lists, as well as step by step instructions, for putting together reproductions of their works. In addition to personal blogs, many companies that provide scrapbooking supplies also have blogs that introduce new products and show ways to use their products in different projects.

Message boards also provide another source of inspiration. Like blogs, many people post pictures of their creations on message boards, with instructions and material lists. When you join a message board, you can also post questions or comments regarding the layouts you like.

Scraplifting is a good way for novices to learn this hobby, as well as for experienced scrapbookers to come up with new ideas.
